Civic Beautification Projects

Throughout the yearthe club members work on many community service projects to benefit Lake George and the surrounding area: 

        To commemorate Arbor Day, the Club annually donates a flowering tree to the Village of Lake                George to be planted in a local park.  
         In the spring, the Garden Club presents the Lake George Senior Center with a large floral pot      
         In November, members decorate & donate lovely holiday wreaths to various public buildings.      
         In November, the Perennial Planters group decorate and donate a beautiful Christmas tree,                     along with several creative wreaths, to the Annual Festival of Trees to benefit Prospect School.

May 19 Perennial Plant Sale:  Changing the location to St. James Church was a good move - lots of space for all the plants, shade for the volunteers, and easy parking for customers. Many thanks to: Annette and Charlie for co-chairing, the volunteers who set up and worked  all day; and the members who donated so many beautiful perennials.          Proceeds will be used to fund our many Community projects and Garden Club Programs
A memorable, entertaining afternoon with guests Sandra Weber and David Hodges as they brought to life the dramatic stories of "Remarkable Adirondack Women".  
June Tour
A wonderful afternoon touring beautifully landscaped 
gardens at historic Homer mansion on Millionaires Row 
on Lake George.  The tour, arranged by Carol McCarthy;
 led by Linda Perry, landscape designer, and owner of 
Sweet Pea  Perennial Gardens. The day ended perfectly
 with a bag lunch at Linda's extensive perennial garden shop   
Tour of Lavenlair Farm - A perfect day in the Champlain Valley visiting extensive 
lavender fields with an amazing 32 different varieties of lavender. Owners, David and 
Jane Allen bought the acreage complete with an 1820 stone house and other historic
 buildings.  They have worked, rebuilt, and developed this wonderful property.  A 
memorable day, enjoyed by 24 garden club members!
Annual Salad and Dessert Luncheon - This year our formal luncheon was especially memorable.  Ginette Maslanka graciously invited members to celebrate the day at historic Villa Marie Antionette estate. Hostesses outdid themselves with beautiful place settings, with delicious salads 
and desserts made by club hostesses.
Tour of Double H Farm - A memorable opportunity for our members to 
visit this Adirondack camp that provides camaraderie and healthy, 
outdoor living experiences for children with life-threatening illnesses. 
District IV Fall Luncheon - an enjoyable day, well-attended by 
all District IV clubs.  Our beautiful basket, created by Kathy 
Schonewolf and Nancy Girard - won by our own lucky 
member, Joan Jenkin!!
Wreath Workshop:  Members created 
lovely wreaths to donate to area 
organizations, municipal buildings,
and nursing homes.
 A special dedication ceremony  to honor Gold Star Families was held in Congress Park.  

Annual Holiday Luncheon
​Members celebrated the start of the holiday season together ,enjoying a social afternoon with good food, and fun, seasonal entertainment by the "Mad Caps" quartet. Members donated food items, and money to benefit local organizations helping people in need.
