Civic Beautification Projects

Throughout the yearthe club members work on many community service projects to benefit Lake George and the surrounding area: 

        To commemorate Arbor Day, the Club annually donates a flowering tree to the Village of Lake                George to be planted in a local park.  
         In the spring, the Garden Club presents the Lake George Senior Center with a large floral pot      
         In November, members decorate & donate lovely holiday wreaths to various public buildings.      
         In November, the Perennial Planters group decorate and donate a beautiful Christmas tree,                     along with several creative wreaths, to the Annual Festival of Trees to benefit Prospect School.

Mayor Bob Blais  with club members at the dedication of our flowering cherry tree, newly planted in May, in Shepard Park
District IV Spring Luncheon. Monday, May 13 hosted by our own LGCGC and held 
at the historic Lake George Club on the shore of Lake George. 83 members attended
 from 5 garden clubs enjoying a delicious lunch, with time to do a little "shopping" at the
 specialty vendors' tables, visit with other members and guests. 
 Congratulation to Charlanne McDonough for accepting the position
 of FGCNYS District IV Director.  

June Tour of the Old Fort House in Fort Edward
Perennial Planter's  arranged this educational tour of 
this historic house and grounds. 
 Many Thanks to Paul McCarty for the valuable history
lesson - fascinating to hear the personal stories and facts
about the history of this area. 
June Open Garden Tour & Tea at the home & gardens of Eileen Ruel 
Members enjoyed a warm, sunny day  touring 
Eileen's landscaped gardens - watching the gold fish 
and frogs in the water-lily covered pond; and enjoying
beverages and cookies with guests and members - indeed a 
relaxing day in a beautiful setting.  Many thanks to
 Perennial Planters Committee!

May 18 Perennial Plant Sale Another 
successful sale at St. James Church  Many  thanks to: Annette
 and Charlie for co-chairing, the volunteers who set up and 
worked  all day; and the members who donated so many beautiful 
perennials.  Proceeds used to fund our many Community projects
 and Garden Club Programs
April 3:  SUNYADK Culinary Luncheon
A real treat for our members!  A gourmet lunch prepared by the Culinary Arts students.

July Annual Salad and Dessert Luncheon at the home of Kathy Schonewolf
The day was rainy, but it made no difference to the 39 Members who enjoyed Kathy's warm
 hospitality at her beautiful lakeside home. All the wonderful gourmet salads and desserts were 
especially welcomed and enjoyed by all.
Suggestion was to collect all these special recipes - a great idea - our next project?

Annual August Brown Bag Luncheon at the home of Diana Kambar
A beautiful, sunny day on Diana's decks enjoyed by over 20 members. 
 A beautiful vista overlooking beautiful Lake George. 
Thanks to all who made delicious desserts.
