Our History

The club achieved federated status in June 1966, after Florence Traver decided the Lake George Community needed  an organization to promote gardening & community service.

Over the years, the club has grown and now has a total of  65 active, 1 associate and 9 honorary members from many communities - Glens Falls, Queensbury, Lake George, Warrensburg, and as far away as Elizabethtown, Minerva, Mechanicville, and more.

Membership is open to all interested gardeners.  Click on (Contact Us) to join

Our Purpose

To encourage interest in all phases
of home gardening and its allied arts,
 to promote civic beauty and
the conservation of natural resources.

Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, the LGCGC Executive Committee has been monitoring pandemic statistics closely to decide if we can start to meet again. With cases rising again in our area, we are going on a month to month basis for holding regular meetings.

In July, we met at the home of Kim Cavarretta.
Members brought box lunches and their own beverage.
Fun to finally get together again!

August: Sadly Rainy weather cancelled our luncheon at the home of
Teresa Rescorl.

September:  Luncheon was rescheduled. Again, the weather forced us to move the meeting to Harrisena Church. Members brought a bag lunch. The business meeting covered many important topics, future events, and projects.

October: Fall Plant Sale, Ruel's Garden,748 Ridge Rd.
October 2 sale was a success: many came to buy, and most
plants were sold. Thanks to the many
volunteers that dug and potted the plants
set up and sold.  It seemed like old times
when so many members pitched in - we were a team!
Looking forward to the Spring Plant Sale at St. James Church in Lake George!

November:  Decorating Wreaths and trees for the Festival of Trees.  Beautifully decorated!  All were sold, and Cathy Vesterby reported that their tree was the 1ST SOLD!!

December: Members celebrated the holiday season at Our Annual Holiday Luncheon. DJ music added to the holiday spirit, and members' generous food and $ donations were well received by the food pantry and Open Door Mission. It was wonderful to be together as a group again.

January:  HAPPY NEW YEAR!  Welcome to 2022... let's hope everyone stays safe and healthy!

With the huge spike in COVID positive cases, the Executive Committee has made the difficult decision to cancel the January & February Meetings.   More information will be forthcoming in February.
